The thing about NYC is that once I land and my feet touch the ground, a bullet of energy moves through my body and BAMMM I am off and running.
After dropping our bags at our not-so-great hotel in Mid- Town, Fo’sho Mercury Retrograde had NOTHING to do with the sly faulty internet marketing of this hotel – i.e. the online info and photos were a farce compared to the “brokedowness” of the real deal – I would advise avoiding The Milford Plaza.
We hit the streets, first in search of good food – of course we headed down town to the East Village and my favorite restaurant The Caravan of Dreams. After a slammin’ meal we walked a couple blocks to Thompkins Park where the girls played and ran off their “airplane trappededness”. The thing about NYC is that there are tons of young families living there now and the inner city parks are so GOOOD! After Lola melted down a few times I cased the windows of some seriously good boutiques – getting clear with my “Shopping Intentions!” I dropped the girls and Lee off at the hotel for a rest before our big night out at the Theater for SHREK The MUSICAL!!
I knew I only had two hours to find what I wanted so now that I was clear, I labeled my mission – Oxfords – yep that’s what I have been dreaming of for fall. They are an old thing brought back new this season in NYC and Nashville hasn’t caught the buzz just yet….I know ’cause I’ve been combing the shops in search of this jazzy light weight style.
I’m totally into fall this year, it’s been so many years since I lived in a place where the leaves actually change colors. I’m applying this magic to my wardrobe and turning my great summer skirts into fall flowers! Nice, huh?
The right shoe is key to this, and since I’m so ready to rock colorful tights with a twist of Mitch Match these little Oxford Gems are banging! I left Lee and the girls to rest in the hotel while I hit the streets with the memory of when I lived there years ago. It’s funny, New Yorkers are serious about navigating the streets by foot – once one masters this rhythm – hoofin’ it happens!

Before I knew it, I’d walked 10 blocks – without even breaking a sweat..sadly there aren’t 10 blocks with connective sidewalks in all of Nashville. But the good news is that I’ve been spotting these “WE NEED SIDEWALKS” signs in various lawns…I LOVE this…so now I’m inspired to support this movement. Nashville is a lovely city with amazing neighborhoods – only they are sidewalk-less! So here I go jumping on the bus with my new oxfords!
