Keeping the clutter at bay!

My closet – AFTER

In fact clutter drives me nuts, when I open my fridge I like to see exactly what’s available to cook, the same rules apply to my closet.

Now that I know that the weather has really shifted I pull out my plastic tubs and do the “swap-a- rue!”

I like to walk into my dressing room, glance at the shelves and know my options.  When all my seasons are jammed in there together I feel discouraged and revert to the same ‘ole outfits.  In fact I’m so extreme that I don’t like drawers! Everything just gets all crammed in them and I never know what I have, instead I opt for shelves or those closet hanging shelf bags!
This helps to keep my consumption of new things down, when I CAN’T see what I have I think I have nothing!

You can buy these plastic storage tubs at Target. Once the 70degree days are gone for sure I dig the tubs out of my garage and the great swap begins!!  The best part of this is that I see my fall wardrobe with NEW EYES!!  After all it’s been a few months since I’d peeped those sweaters and boots and shopping with out spending is always FUN!  Usually it takes 2 to 3 medium tubs or 2 large ones. One for shoes and boots, one for coats, hats, gloves and sweaters and one for p.j’s, wool socks, heavy bathrobes and then pants.  Label your tubs so that if you are able to escape the cold weather your tropical clothes are easy to locate!

TIP: Do the same for your kids closets!
This is really great ’cause it takes the pressure off of guessing what will fit next year and what to give away – now you don’t have to worry about this until next year!
Plus younger kids get fresh new “hammy downs” that they’ve forgotten seeing their siblings in!
Our kids learn life via us, if they live in an organized, minimal environment now they will later!
