This weekend is about being thoughtful, a great place to bring that thoughtfulness is our own personal lives.
How to do this is to organize, plan and connect to the worlds we’ve created. I know times is busy, however reflection and taking inventory is a great pre-holiday gift to give ourselves.
I dig this process, because I know a new year is coming and I LOVE manifesting and making resolutions. The only way to prepare for this is to take a break and reflect upon how we’ve been living so every quiet minute I get I plan on resting my adrenal glands (all you’ve got to do is lay flat on your back for 10 minutes) & making a list, so I can check it twice.
I just did my first morning talk show – MakingMiso in da’Morning baby! It was really fun, fo’sho I was super nervous and not going to remember what it is that I know, but the truth is that I’ve really got a great team here in Nashville. Lena (my main squeeze here in the office/Convent Building), Lauren our fab stylist and make up artist and Julie and Marissa – slammin’ publicist hooked it all up and Tennessee Morning’s on Fox 17 showed me the way.
What I’m learning – ’cause I’m always learning – is that folks want to know, we all really want to take our power back and feel that we are actually participating in maintaining our health. I had no idea less than a year ago that I would be standing before so many people sharing in this way, but it really goes to show that opening up to new ideas and then taking the needed actions, create opportunities that we don’t even know exist! I guess what I’m trying to say is that when I get down about my destiny all I’ve got to do is remember to open my mind and remain expansive, surrender and just enjoy where the road takes me.
I can’t wait to share the video clip with all of you that were unable to tune in this morning, however if you’d like to watch the Original Princess Know It All Miso Soup Video cooking Show, click here. Also the shopping list and recipe are listed below!
Hopefully next week we will be able to air today’s segment fo’ya’ll!
* Soak the Wakame and Shitake mushrooms in 1 cup of spring water (be sure to rinse off your Shitake mushrooms first). Slice the mushrooms once they have rehydrated, but first remove and get rid of the hard stems, leaving the caps to be sliced in to thin strips.
* Add the remaining 4 cups of water to the pot along with the water you used to hydrate the seaweed and the mushrooms (this water is important ’cause it’s got all the mineral from the seaweed in it).
* Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes.
* Remove about a 1/4 cup of the broth and add the Miso to it, pureeing the Miso into the water by using a spoon (I use my soup ladle). Once it’s blended and dissolved I add it all back into the soup allowing it to SIMMER not boil, for less then 5 more minutes.
* Serve and garnish with scallions!
Before Princess Know It All became a full on site, it was a blog. A blog that I really loved writing…Don’t get me wrong I still love writing the blog and sharing but it’s felt a bit stiff and I’ve failed to bring that everyday brain-chatter of mine to the table.
Today, I’ve locked myself in the Convent, needing to write a ton of copy for other projects..now that I’ve gotten some work done I can get my chat on with ya’.
But first, a few things to clear up…like my total Princess Know It All moment, after I ranted about cutting the sugar I realized that my “Know It All Self” placed a raffle for organic chocolates - SUGAR!!! Oops, sorry gang, however you can all sign up and then pass the yummy’s along as stocking stuffers? Maybe it’s life telling me to not be so rigid, relax and take a bite of chocolate now and again? Hmmm…..
Speaking of relaxing, yesterday I went to Lola’s school to participate in an art project. Always I look forward to finding just one mom in her class that we can connect with and maybe Lola could have a friend to have “Lola Play dates” with.
I guess I should reveal one of my characters that you all might not have met just yet, her name is “Hi Im Too Much“! I’ve been aware of her for a way long time, ’cause she’s made herself known since I was at least 3 years old. The thing about “Hi Im Too Much” is that she really means no harm, she just has a tendency to be a bit much.. She laughs loudly, her jokes sometimes get a touch too graphic, music and dancing is way her thing and she’s not afraid.. “Hi Im Too Much” is all about expressing herself and her opinions.
I should have known yesterday when I decided to wear red skinny jeans, furry camel colored 1970′s retro styled boots and topped off with a leopard Vivienne tam head scarf – Oh and how could I leave out the layers of long gold chains? All of this was a sign that I was headed for a “Hi Im Too Much” reunion.
It seems that no matter how I try to keep it all together, I always say something wrong or talk just a bit too much while attending a school event. Maybe it’s the south, these folks seem to have mastered keeping it together on the outside. I happen to be someone who just needs to get whats in, OUT!
All was going well, the only thing loud was my outfit and I was doing my best not to let my “Hi I’m Too Much” jump out of the bag. I thought I’d made it, Lola and I made our way to the rug and we were reading a story, making small talk when all of a sudden Lola lifted her shirt and revealed her spots!!!
Yep, she’s got some strange kid thing – it’s NOT contagious just ugly and finally going away. However Lola thought it a good idea to share these spots with the one woman who was kind of paying us some mind. That was of course until she saw the ugly little red dots on Lola’s side – “Eww, what’s that Chicken Pox?” No, it’s some kid thing and it’s going away – Lola put your shirt down.” I was tempted to tell her that the spots are Jungle Warts, but I thought that could endanger Lola’s spot at school, not to mention the hysteria such a joke could cause. So I giggled to myself with the idea of it and Lola didn’t listen and instead was enjoying the audience, revealing once again her marks as she danced around the room pushing her shirt up.
Oh, man…there it goes our shot at making friends – I guess Lola has her own “Hi I’m Too Much” too.
Tomorrow I’m appearing on my first Morning Talk show -Fox 17 here in Nashville, I’m making Miso Soup and spreading the word about Princess Know It All, I sure do hope that my “Hi Im Too Much” is at bay…cross your fingers!
This is an exciting time of year – December and Holidays!
Oh, Please give this jam a listen! It’s so fun finding songs that go with the blog, Lena and I giggle as we search and listen for just the right groove to share with you! Click below to listen to: Sugar by Trick Daddy featuring Ludacris, Lil Kim & Cee-Lo
I will share a brief image with you – when you heat sugar up in a pan on the stove it crackles, bubbles and burns. When you take room temperature sugar and put into a body that is at least 98 degrees , this sugar hits our hot blood and the bubble, sizzle, crackle burn is on. Causing inflammation where this blood rests – INSIDE our bodies. Our blood becomes acidic and then disease moves in, it is a KNOWN fact that Cancer thrives in an acidic atmosphere….SO if you want to be preventative get your gram-reading-self on and peep what your eating!
I had NO idea just how much sugar my body was taking in, in fact if someone asked me if I ate a ton of sugar I’d say nope, I was a salty gal…
That was until I decided I needed to make some changes…one of those changes when facing an inflammatory disorder is to CUT sugar for 3 months and then only reintroduce small increments in a more natural way, like brown rice syrup and agave. Fo’sho I thought OH, this will be easy – the dairy seemed way tougher…HA,haha…Once I started paying attention to what had sugar in it, my vision of what I was really eating took over. For starters reading labels was new to me, when I say reading labels that means what’s in it and if I didn’t know, then Google became my friend.
What I soon learned, was just how addicted to sugar I truly was! I needed a sweet fix, if only a bite of chocolate or a cookie after every meal, I craved muffins, breads and donuts with hot coffee loaded with sugar! I LOVED a vanilla soy latte…dang! I now know that I was probably taking in at least 40 teaspoons of sugar a day! Can you imagine having a sugar bowl on your coffee table and taking 40 teaspoons a day through out your day up until bed?
Part of this diet is also avoiding all “man made ingredients” or man modified ingredients. Basically boxed and frozen foods are out of the question since almost ALL of them have something man manufactured. What the real shocker was though: sugar, what does “grams of sugar” mean? I don’t carry a scale around, so understanding this is tough, what helped was learning how many teaspoons of sugar are in 4 grams of sugar – the answer 1 teaspoon. So when buying boxed cereal I was BLOWN away as I walked the aisles dividing my teaspoons into to grams!
Somewhere along the way we have adopted excuses for our sugar fixes. Here is the classic “My sugar gets crazy and I need a coke or something.” Ha,ha…ha..NO that is a symptom of addiction and you are JONESIN’ dude…You are craving a fix “mang” (sorry, couldn’t resist “Scarface”).
What you really need is to restructure your entire diet, so that you don’t jones no’mo…..
In the beginning of this diet I was given this recipe and told to drink it every day…guess what? It worked RAPIDO!
I no longer jones and when I do get a bit of sweetness, I can actually taste it! For example I now KNOW that sweet potato’s don’t need marshmallow, brown sugar or honey they are slam bammin’ sweet all by themselves…I had to clean out my body and detox my taste buds to re-taste food.
Good luck…on your sweet journey.
This is really yummy and is like drinking veggie soup broth…I promise you will like it!
This has a milder effect on the body compared with refined sugar or even sugar from fruits and fruit juices. Thus, it helps to balance the blood sugar level and leave a comfortable feeling.
To prepare sweet vegetable drink, you need:
1/4 cup carrot
1/4 cup cabbage
1/4 cup pumpkin or squash
1/4 cup large onion
Grate or finely cut the vegetables.
Add four cups water and bring to the boil. Reduce fire and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Strain and drink only the liquid.
You can eat the veggies too, and store the broth in a covered container in the fridge so you have it for a couple days, be sure to drink a cup of broth at least once a day but the more time the better!
I just got all pumped up and excited about this weekend, according to the stars this weekend is about asking yourself “What if?”
Then imagine the outcome!
To help support the manifestation of your ‘What If Dream’, take every opportunity that arises to exhibit kindness, compassion and love…this will be a smooth and exciting weekend – because when we decide to dream our lives and then take action by serving up kindness – look out world!
