PKIA Starry Travel

Even when we aren't moving via trains, planes and automobiles and just sitting still in our life our astrological selves are getting their move on!

I have always been someone who understands astrology, I can drop it like it's hot and make it simple. I have a few sites that I read on a daily basis and take it all in as a positive way to move through my days. Here under Starry Travel you will find my takes on the Stars and tips on actual physical travel!!

STARRY TRAVEL: February

February 3rd, 2010

As much as I like to mumble and grumble about the trials and tribulations that the month of February brings, there also many gifts.  For starters ,we are all beginning to wake up from our winter sleep and dreaming of things to come.  These last few weeks of cold snowed-in hours are perfect times to reflect on what we do want to blossom in March.  I happen to be a March baby so February is tricky in the sense that I’m fixing to pop into life and just before I take a step closer to my greatest self, resistance to this change makes my knees shake from all the complaining I seem to do.

February is a #9 in numerology, and this means that the month of February will be filled with vigor, humanitarianism and a touch of psychic juice for us all.. Any time our compassionate selves are stroked our creative juices flow with fluidity and our bodies fill with energy. Give and you get baby…Nine is sounding fine!

Starry Travel For A Holiday Hump Day!

December 16th, 2009

Princess Know It All character "Hi Im too much"It’s Hump day and I usually drop horoscope tips on the weekend’s however today I felt inspiration knocking!

My tip for the rest of the week is all about walking an authentic path, be brave and bring your own beats to the table.

Original thinking and style is well rewarded; so if your digging through your closet looking for something to rock be sure to bust on the scene with that dress you have that makes you stand out and up.

Free your inner “Hi I’m Too Much!”

A focused weekend

December 11th, 2009

This weekend is about being thoughtful, a great place to bring that thoughtfulness is our own personal lives.

How to do this is to organize, plan and connect to the worlds we’ve created.  I know times is busy, however reflection and taking inventory is a great pre-holiday gift to give ourselves.

I dig this process, because I know a new year is coming and I LOVE manifesting and making resolutions.  The only way to prepare for this is to take a break and reflect upon how we’ve been living so every quiet minute I get I plan on resting my adrenal glands (all you’ve got to do is lay flat on your back for 10 minutes) & making a list, so I can check it twice.

Creating Our Own Sweetness!

December 3rd, 2009

I just got all pumped up and excited about this weekend, according to the stars this weekend is about asking yourself   “What if?”

Then imagine the outcome!

To help support the manifestation of your ‘What If Dream’, take every opportunity that arises to exhibit kindness, compassion and love…this will be a smooth and exciting weekend – because when we decide to dream our lives and then take action by serving up kindness – look out world!

A Window Of Stars..

November 23rd, 2009

It’s a short work week and a big weekend, so check out this horoscope for the week.

PKIA Character "Don't make me connect"

There is a ton of energy building, as we are all realizing that another year is moving towards the end.  The excitement of the holidays has us spinning at times with a combo of feelings, some good and some fearful. I totally get this, ’cause our “Hi Please Don’t Make Me Connect” always appears right before walking through the door of our family gatherings.

The good news is that if we can see past the obvious or tangible world, and look deep into the sweetness that we know is true, then all those things that drive us nuts will reveal how unimportant and unreal the pettiness is.  Our connection to the the folks we love is what this holiday is really about.

Luckily, the stars have lined up and opened a window that allows us to look beyond the made-up chaos (made up ’cause most of it is not true and stems from our fearful reactions.)

Stay calm and look for the starry window where Thankfulness and forgiveness resides.

Happy Turkey or Tofu Day!

Starry Travel Weekend Forecast!

November 12th, 2009

Check it out:

Friday the 13th is here and depending on which way you want to see it -  lucky or unlucky – is up to you.

The number 13 has nothing to do with astrology so it is not part of a cosmic plan, but the number does in numerology add up to four which is not considered to be the most beneficial.  However, Friday was considered the unlucky day to lots of folks back in the day and 13 was said to be a very lucky number in Pagan times – or Pre-Christian.  I prefer looking at 13 as something that follows the 12 and the 12 represents completeness. As in 12 months in a year, 12 zodiac signs, 12 Apostles of Jesus, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 hours on the clock…So you see – I see Friday the 13th as a day to celebrate and recognize the end of a big week!

This Saturday is a fantastic day astrologically…the sun and moon are shining some seriously positive rays making our ability to perceive what’s really goin’ on in our lives.  This is a great day for expressing an idea or sharing your feelings.  For me, I plan on digging deep  on a creative project..taking one of my ideas to another level!

This Sunday is totally set up for reflecting!  Especially after one day of celebration and one of expression, it’s time to hang low and stare out the window!  Crankiness can prevail, so try not to react and stay clear of conflict, it’s really not worth it…plus you lose so much energy that you’ll need for the upcoming work week!

A Family Weekend!

November 6th, 2009

This is going to be a great weekend for hanging with yo’family or “Threads”.

The moon enters it’s home planet  at 2:42am (Friday night or Saturday am however you wanna view it), this makes for family communication to go smoothly so Saturday have some of your people over and hang!  Sunday is all about finding your funny and then using it to get determined – what you want is just around the corner!

Weekend Forecast!

October 22nd, 2009

Happy Bday Scorpios!
The Scorpion influence is the soul searching aspect of all of us, when Scorpio is overhead an opportunity to dig deep into our feelings is heightened.  What this means is that our personal issues are fixin’ to show themselves – instead of wasting energy trying to keep them hidden in our inner closets, just open the door and offer them a seat at the table.  See it as a personal tea party, after all last week you set the table with your china of choice who better to enjoy with then your own characters?  In other words “Take some quiet alone time.”

Welcome To Starry Travel!

I just got jazzed for the weekend cause it’s all about TAKING ACTION!

Peep this, planets are lining up for us to find out what we want and expressing this by first getting in touch with what we are feeling and then with kindness speaking our truths!  Allowing our relationships that are on the table right now to reveal themselves and if they are in alignment with our feelings all is good.  If not we have got the self power to clear the table and reset it with the china of our choice (i.e. folks that support)!

Have a good weekend and make your table yours!

TOTING BABES TO CLEVELAND!

August 6th, 2009

The flight to Cleveland was pretty much cake, and I am proud to say that I’m finally really walking my talk with the carry – on situation!  I’d bought this cool leather messenger bag from FOSSIL for Lee not too long ago, he is a backpack man and NEVER uses it, so I decided to MAKE IT HAPPEN and happen it did!

I was able to fit my laptop, a few magazines and my wallet all with ease and grace! Bella is now big enough to pull her own bag – she has a great backpack with wheels that is actually big enough to fit her stuff as well as Lola’s and not too big for her to navigate the narrow plane aisle.

Of course Lola wants to bring her own Dora bag, but I put my gladiator sandal down – she is still to little to drag it and gets tired of it quickly, leaving MEE to tote it!  Since I’m all about clearing security with as much smoothness as possible, Dora stays home!

I don’t always tote my traveling stroller, in fact this trip I brought my light weight McClaren Umbrella Stroller, I knew we’d be doing some touristy stuff and the large basket underneath is a huge perk not to mention that my 6 year old still can fit when a needed break commands!  It’s so easy to lift and steer that even if they aren’t riding I can use it as a trolley for our carry-ons.

As you know, this is my deal, this is my site, and this is my stuff…i only PROMOTE what I ROCK!!! (click on the images below for more info on these fabulous products…)

A trip to Northern Ohio in the summer time wouldn’t be complete without a day at CEDAR POINT!

Cedar Point sits right along Lake Erie, and of course I’d forgotten how lovely it is there..

I’ve been going to Cedar Point since I was 6 years old, they have the BEST kiddie parks – 2 areas! The roller coasters are hands down the “BANGINEST” (yea it’s a total made up slang word) of ANY where I have ever been.  It’s not super expensive either, we went at 5pm because the price drops with the hot sun $29.99 kids under 3 are FREE! Another reason for hitting the park in the early evening is that MOST little kids are done and home and the rides are wait free! Two year olds are NOT DOWN with waiting.

Since the park closes at 10pm weeknights and 12 am weekends 5 hours is plenty of time for the little people!

The only time I was TOTALLY tempted to break my strict diet was when my sister bought the Cedar Point Classic French Fries w/ Vinegar..OK and the ELEPHANT EARS!!!!! YIKES!

Don’t worry if you don’t have family to stay with like us,  they have some really great family style resorts.  Check this place out – http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/resorts/hotels/index.cfm

TIPS FOR NOT TOTTING BABES!

July 20th, 2009

I did it, I went to NYC without my babes!!!!!

It wasn’t a first, I’d left them once before just after Lola was born.  Lee and I went to Mexico to scope out a house for us all to move too.  I’d twisted and turned with grief and anxiety the entire time!

Waking in the night full of fear that they were missing me too.  Poor Lee, I’d have these moments of internal anger with him that he’d TAKEN me from them! ha,ha…
Of course all of this fear only made things worse for the situation, Bella ended up with the stomach flu and I missed the Christmas school party, leaving me to feel like a negligent momma!

Don’t sleep on me, I left them in well kept hands – Nanny and Bubba their grandparents, Fab Gab my BFF, Olivia our nanny and two visiting high Lama monks sent directly from the Oracle of Tibet himself!  (That’s another story for another time).
My house was full of capable loving hands and yet my heart ached for my babes!
My craziest character “Hi I Control EVERYTHING” was seriously freaking out!

This trip was different, I knew we were ready for a few days away when both girls let me know how they felt about traveling again.  Bella is now almost 7 years old and Lola will be 3 soon, I’ve been toting them every where and they didn’t want to board another plane!  So once again I called on my tribe to step in and help rear them.

These are my tips for NOT TOTING BABES:

1.) Leave a detailed note about everything from early morning wake up to mid-night potty trips.
2.) Prepare as much food as possible in advance – this takes the pressure off of who ever is watching them, lending way more time to play!
3.) Type a note granting who ever has been left in charge with the right to provide medical attention – naming the pediatrician and their address/phone number.
4.) Don’t forget to leave your medical card ( I happen to have two so it’s easy, if you don’t then make copies).
5.) Pack light: enjoy the fact that you don’t have to carry a ton of stuff!!! For me, my laptop and one magazine was plenty!!! NYC without kids was a great opportunity to rock high heels!!!!

This trip was super overdue!

I knew I was in need of MEE time when Lee offered to help a young woman with a tiny baby strapped with way too many carry -ons, an over sized stroller & car seat.  I grabbed his sleeve and whispered in my best “MOM HISS VOICE” – “Lee we don’t have to help today, just one time I’d like to walk down this ramp with out a ton of crap!”He gave me a look like “WOW who are you crazy?”

I knew NYC was going to be great but the real surprise was how FANTASTIC it would be for Lee and I, the first night the two of us crashed – knowing my babes were safe and sound I slept for the first time without waking since birthing them!
The second day Lee and I walked the city without talking much, enjoying the alone mental time!  Our hotel was really super cool too, located in the East Village and way groovy.  We LOVED our toy free, no kid t.v space…check out this hotel www.thompsonhotels.com.

What I DIDN’T KNOW was that a marriage definitely needs time and space of it’s own….Lee is my best friend and yes I’m the momma in our house but being a wife and being a mother are two different things!

Toting babes..

June 24th, 2009

From the time I was 15-years-old I knew life on a cul-de-sac was not for me. In fact, I dreamed of roaming the world and settling somewhere non-traditional. Coming from a great, warm family, I knew that one-day I would like to have children of my own. What I feared wasn’t the long years of no sleep, but the long days of “same ‘ole”!

When I met my husband I was living in Hollywood and pursuing a writing career, spending my extra cash on travel. He lived on a “cattle ranch” in Tennessee and air travel was part of the deal. When I got pregnant, flying remained something we did. Twenty-one times, in fact! I listened as passing strangers unloaded their tips on how to prepare for the changes that lay ahead. Usually their random comments ended with “enjoy your time now.” I flinched and thanked them while thinking to myself, “that’s not me, I’m NOT changing!” After all, I had been trying to keep up with the old me for the past nine months.

In fact, I refused to buy maternity clothes until my zipper ruptured at dinner one night and I begged my husband to drop me by the high fashion, expectant-momma shop! Unfortunately we arrived just as the young, skinny, never – been –pregnant; LA supermodel salesgirl locked the door and pointed to the store hours sign. I smashed my face to the glass imagining all those stretchy jeans with elastic panels wrapped around my middle, and then I sighed because the joy of my new purchase would have to wait until morning! Surrender to my new way of being had begun.

I WAS changing. When our new baby turned six-weeks-old we boarded the plane for the first time together. I was clad with stroller, over-stuffed diaper bag, purse, snack pack, infant seat, and, of course, dressed the same way I had as a single Hollywood hoochie! I’d sworn never to become one of those sweatpants and sweat suit ladies unless at home or the gym! The only problem with my high heels was lugging the new entourage that I’d gained over the last 10 months–the baby and my two lactating friends! Instead of breezing through security I had to maneuver the baby in her “Baby Borne Pack”, unload the stroller and reload it onto the conveyor belt, take off my shoes, unpack the lap top, place it in a separate container, remove my jewelry and keep the baby calm while moving as fast as my clumsy new body would move, so as to not hold up the LINE! I then had to explain to the security guard that the baby’s bottom was so red that if they took away my “Triple Paste” the entire plane would suffer! Finally, once I had offered to bare her bottom in proof that the “Triple Paste” was not a bomb; they tossed it back in the bag allowing me the fine opportunity to scramble once more for all of my belongings and reload the load! The 5 hours on board the plane was just as nuts, not knowing if it was OK to change her diaper on the seat or where to put the dirty diaper, how to cover my lactating boobs from the guy across the way who was nursing his 5th gin and tonic! I was so freaked out with germs that I kept my baby and myself sweating underneath a hot sheath of blankets, plus the many overstuffed carry-ons had us slammed to the window! Where was the guidebook??? Today I have two small children and live in the Mexican jungle! No Cul-de sacs here! When we are not here in Mexico I am “Toting Babes” between our cattle ranch outside of Nashville, TN, our traditional Mexican Dreaming House in Teotihuacán (the home of the Pyramid of the Sun and Moon) and Los Angeles – not to mention the many places we travel to in between! Via all of my trails and tribulations with air, car, boat and train travel, I have come up with a slew of tips. I hope these will encourage you to lead a daring and courageous life as a traveling mom. Good Luck!

TIP #1
The night before your journey have a conversation with yourself. Tell yourself, “Tomorrow will be a big day, but I am organized and capable, and I will remain calm and pleasant. I will not pick at my spouse or frazzle my children, I am a flexible and calm person!” Words to live by! I most recently flew from our house in the jungle to Nashville via Dallas. The “VIA” is where things got tricky! What was thought to be a 2 hour lay over turned into 12 and hanging in the airport with 2 small children became some what of a challenge for rule number #1! I tried my best to keep them in one small area, but 2 and 6 year olds need to move about and after 6 hours RUN! As these kids began to drive me nuts with their whining and jumping about, I reached out and pinched my six year olds arm; this was a big RULE #1 breaker! My way unaccustomed to being pinched 6 year old YELLED out “Hey, why did you pinch me, that hurt!” Of course this brought many stares my way – NOT that these folks weren’t secretly hoping I’d pinch one of them to stop their incessant jumping about! Ha,ha… I kept thinking how come when our parents pinched us to stay still we stood still? Oh, that’s right ‘cause then when we got home there was a follow up “WAP” which sent a message to our brains “momma’s got back up.” Now that I’m trying to parent with thoughtfulness and consideration for future therapy, I’m not able to hold on to the memory of what they did wrong the way my mom could, so a follow up smack down when you get home is just plain illogical, it’s like beating your dog cause he went on the rug yesterday! Plus once you pinch them all you do is up the stress level on their side of things… Dang being healthy emotionally has it’s draw backs! Since I was traveling alone I wasn’t able to take my frustration on my husband, well he did call to check on our flight arrival and I was a bit “sulky” – again as if it was his fault??? Us humans are nuts! Toting Babes is tough enough but toting carry –ons is double the work! My recent strategy was buying these two pieces: a Kipling Hot Pink backpack and a matching Kipling Hot Pink Carry Tote. These rock for loading the lap top in the back pack and the travel tote is a perfect easy to grab- need to get too diapers, wipes, toys, crayons and FAVORITE play dough! I love Kipling bags because they are lightweight and durable. The BRIGHT colors make ‘em cake for keeping one eye on the bags and one eye on the running babes!
