PKIA Style Guide

When I first moved to LA I had dreams of styling commercials for a living and, after a few weeks, I landed my first job as an assistant. I loved it. After all, styling is telling a story through a character's appearance. I'd been reading the human stories I saw on the streets all around me for years, paying attention and figuring out who folks were by the way they presented themselves. Since then, I've traveled many career paths, yet I am still telling tales via fashion. And now, with the launch of PKIA, I am able to share these with you!

Sayulita fash-3D

I’m back in the BU – Malibu that is, we are here for two weeks.  Celebrating summer time equals beach time in my mind, I’m always on the hunt for the right suit and this year I found one!!! I’m crazy about this little poka dot number it’s  retro style keeps it sexy, groovy and glam!  It can be paired with any bottom or used as a cover up – check it out TARGET!

My hat is from Barneys of New York – gotta love mixin’ up the style baby!  Ya’ll KNOW I love gladiators and here I am shopping in my own closet wearing last years from MIA. Oh and of course a bangin’ little dress from FOREVER 21! So I’ve done it mixed high, middle and low end shopping!  Thanks again ASHLY JORDAN GORDAN for taking these photos on my favorite beach in Sayulita, Mexico & at CASA DE LOS DOLPHINES.

A Night Out!

Princess Know It All StyleThis semi shear dress is once again VINTAGE along with the jewelry! I love to pile on necklaces, mixing a shorter chain with a longer pendant gives this old school look a new buzz! The blouse sleeves make this an easy get up to go from work to play – swap your shoes and a good times it to be had!

LIGHT PACKING!

June 14th, 2010

Princess Know It All Style in MexicoI’M GOING ON VACATION -California and Mexico are part of my vacation plan!!!

We travel like mad and what I’ve learned is how LITTLE I really need; in fact the less I pack the more I wear and the more inventive I become!  This is the KEY to good style – being creative with what we have.  I love gladiator sandals ’cause they are hip, stylin’ & comfy! I bring a tote  (Marc Jacobs) for my carry on’s (1 magazine, 1 book, 1 note book & lap top)  that I use on the plane, bus & train and the only purse is my leather hip bag (hand made bought in Sayulita) – it keeps my cash, id & iphone right next to me.

I love dresses, if the weather cools off I always have a pair of leggings – they take up NO space, the fabric is light enough – yet keeps my legs warm. One bikini is enough ’cause I wash it out; I use my beach wrap as a shawl too!

The same rules apply to toiletries – I pack a small case,  VITAMIN A and Oxybenzone FREE sunblock – these ingredients actually increase the cancer cells when put on the skin that sits in the sun, a scented oil for perfume – small and compact.  I squeeze my shampoo’s and lotions into travel size containers and take ONLY what I NEED.

Remember there are laundry services EVERY where we travel, so send your things to be washed or stop by a laundry mat, wash your undies out in the sink and always slip flip flops into your bag – I don’t like to walk bare footed in hotel rooms.

The real deal is that I’m going on vacation to feel lighter so why would I pack a huge bag of jackass and insist on taking it with us?

Sayulita Fash-700

More style photos from Sayulita & Casa de los Dolphines & Ashely Jordan Gordan.

Something happens to me in Mexico – I’m reminded to dream my life in COLOR! A perfect example is to add something colorful to my wardrobe every time I get dressed!  This wrap of a sweater/scarf/ shawl is my all time favorite travel piece!  I’m crazy about it!!!!! I rock it every time I board a plane, as it serves as a fab blanket and it’s light enough – 100% cotton that I can tote it to the Jungle! Guess what ya’ll? It was in expensive too – FOREVER 21!

One of the hottest colors right now is coral – I love it ’cause it looks so good paired with turquoise! This dress is gonna be my summertime go to!

A sweet dress adds a pep to my step!

I love dresses and Spring is the time to have a fling with them!  This dress isn’t vintage, but it does have a retro feel to it.  I love over-sized watches, this one is from Timex  – it’s inexpensive, looks great and can travel! ‘Cause rule #1 is, when I travel, I leave the high-dollar jewels back at the ranch…
