Constipation is a major problem, not just for adults but for little kids. The answer to this problem is not bowel moving pills, liquids and suppositories but shifting the diet. How I explain it is pay attention to how much dry, baked and crunchy foods are being eaten. Example: If you take a piece of bread and drop it in a bowl of water the bread absorbs the majority of the water – well our digestive tracks work the same way. All of the dried, baked crunches absorb the water drying out the lining of the intestines. Yes we can drink lots of water but what our bodies are made to do is digest foods with water in them. Like veggies!
Most kids start their day with dry cereal, waffles, toast then move to sandwiches for lunch and pasta for dinner – toss in a few crackers for snacks.
What I do is monitor how much dry crunchy is going down the pipe line – not only of my little people but also my own. Shifting the majority input from dry crunchy to Gluten free products are yes void of wheat and gluten but are still dry and crunchy!
This past weekend I spent some time with my BFF Fab Gab and she introduced me to a yummy sandwich alternative! Her little person was having a tough go with “going” and so she monitored the dry crunchy, added in quinoa, veggies and this little snack!
