I’m not someone who will sit in front of the mirror for hours applying makeup. In fact, I have to force myself to sit long enough to have my hair done! Lauren Williams, our beauty gal knows this about me, so when it’s time to do my make up for an event or one of our cooking videos, she has mad skills and KNOWS how to move.
This time I climbed into her chair armed with a notepad. I paid attention and here are my step by step notes fo’ya!
First things first, moisturizing our skin before applying makeup is way important, even if we don’t have dry skin, a well exfoliated and moisturized face makes a perfect canvas for any type of base – mineral powder, liquid foundation and even tinted moisturizer!
I use a mineral exfoliator. This exfoliator starts as a powder, which then turns to a paste when water is added and is gentle enough to be used everyday.
I use a makeup brush, or a foundation brush to be exact. The brush I use for my face cream is different from my actual foundation brush, the reasons for using a brush are plenty:
1.) Our fingers have oils & dirt, even if we wash them.
2.) Our fingers have skin on them and this skin absorbs our face cream, our face needs all the moisturizer it can get.
3.) A brush can be cleaned and dispenses the moisturizer evenly.
4.) Pump or squeeze out a large dab of moisturizer onto the thumb area of your hand, this way the brush won’t need to continue touching the dispenser, use this part of your hand as a palette, much like painters!
Once the moisturizer is applied be sure to give it a minute to set in…
