After spending close to two weeks in Mexico and Mexico City looking at how fab the gals dress,  let me tell you – Mango Momma’s all over Mexico and Latin America are not deterred by walking long distances, heat, terrain or city density – they get dressed! I know they have to look at Americen woman that show up all hippy’ed out or rugged – thinking “dang ya’ll is it that rough?” When I lived in Sayulita I wore a nice dress every day to my office to work, so WHY am I slacking now?  I know that the only way to get through this last month of winter without hitting the bottom of the blues bucket is to step it up with my gear and do my best to feel great!

Needing to start somewhere I had a conversation with myself “Girl, you may live where it’s cold but you must not succumb to waffle t’s and jeans, get your fashion together!!!” So for lent I made a pledge, I am giving up my frumpy, messy look and going through my closet using every piece I’ve got.  “Style from the Streets” is a journal of how I’m working what I got to work with.  The second part of this is to give up buying anything new, only what’s in my closet is for my inspiration.

I love this coat, it’s a parka but has shape, a swing coat with function!!!!

Thanks Calvin Klein for giving me something to work with.  When I was in LA this early winter I found these groovy little boots at Made Well, loving my Uggs as much as I do I knew I had to bring the style and these sho’do, reminding me of something that would have been rocked in the seventies and yet lined with sheepskin! Colorful leggings give me that splash of color I need on a gray day paired with yummy socks from Hue.  So you see I took what obviously could look frumpy and gave it a kick!!
